Am I a candidate for the Alt. Ed. program?

Recommendations for Alt. Ed. come from your counselor, administrator, or from academic information that was gathered following the conclusion of the school year. If you are recommended, you will receive a letter in the mail and via Campus Portal and should follow this process:

  1. Email or call to verify your student wants to take part in this program. Be prepared to schedule a 15 minute meeting with the Principal or the Counselor before August 1, 2015.
  2. Attend your scheduled meeting (both the student and parent/guardian must attend). Please be punctual as there are 40 individual meetings to complete.
  3. Complete the online survey before attending your meeting. Information provided by the student before the meeting will be discussed.
  4. Take the online reading assessment (SRI), in addition to the survey and meeting.

Online Registration

Families of returning students, log in to your Campus Portal account and select "Online Registration for Currently Enrolled Students for 15-16 school year", in your Inbox to begin. Contact your school or the Online Registration Helpline, (785) 339-4955 for assistance.

Families new to the district may complete the New to District registration.

Walk-in Registration

Walk-in Registration is Tuesday, July 28 - Thursday, July 30 at Washburn Rural High School.

New to district families should call their school to schedule a time for completing registration.

Back to School Night

Orientation for Washburn Rural High School freshmen and new students is Sunday, August 9 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. This time gives students a chance to walk their schedules and learn their way around the building before the first day of classes.

Back to school night is August 12. Students may deliver their supplies and meet their teachers prior to the first day of school:

  • Auburn Elementary — 6:30 to 7:30 PM
  • Farley Elementary — 4:30 to 6:00 PM
  • Indian Hills Elementary — 4:00 to 6:00 PM
  • Jay Shideler Elementary — 4:00 to 5:30 PM
  • Pauline Central Primary — 4:00 to 6:00 PM
  • Pauline South Intermediate — 4:00 to 6:00 PM
  • Wanamaker Elementary — 4:30 to 6:30 PM

Give Back a Backpack

Auburn-Washburn is collecting new and gently-used backpacks through June 5. Backpacks may be dropped off at any district building, and will be offered during Walk-In Registration in July to students who need one. This project is part of 437Connection, which focuses on giving back to students and families in the district.
